Past Missions

Phillipines, 2006 - 2025

  • In February 2025, a dedicated team of 31 volunteers traveled to Pambujan, Northern Samar, Philippines for a two-week medical mission (February 21 – March 8). Our operations were based at St. Scholastica Hospital, where we provided a wide range of services — including major General Surgery and Gynecology procedures, minor surgeries, and endoscopic treatments. Over the course of the mission, we cared for 504 patients, addressing a variety of medical conditions.

  • Community engagement and education are vital parts of every mission. We proudly partnered with the University of Eastern Philippines College of Nursing, whose third- and fourth-year students actively participated in all aspects of our work — gaining hands-on experience while contributing to patient care.

  • The 2025 Pambujan mission was a tremendous success, and plans are already underway for our return in February 2026.

Guatemala, Summer 2018

The focus of our 2018 mission to Guatamala was to offer specialized procedures like cholecystectomies, hernia repairs, hysterectomies, and various minor procedures.

Juyjuy, Argentina, 2017

300 surgeries, 37 volunteers

Located in Northwest Argentina, the Province of Juyjuy (pronounced who-who-ee) is located at the base of the Andes Mountains. The climate is arid, much like Southern Colorado, with cactus, grasslands, and mountains all around.

Juyjuy receives the majority of all trauma and high-level care patients in an otherwise sparsely populated region. The medical community is grossly underfunded and constantly in need of assistance from outside sources to be able to maintain and improve their ability to care for the patient loads they are required to support. The surgeons there have a backlog of nearly six months worth of medically necessary surgeries.

ISM was invited to work with medical professionals in Juyjuy to help with this backlog. While there, ISM volunteers performed 110 general surgeries, helping to reduce the surgical caseload by half. Additionally, ISM volunteers were able to provide consultation in other areas such as ICU and ER. Seminars were provided for first responders.
